Hawaii-based computer store opens first service center near Columbus

Hawaii-based computer repair, data recovery and networking company SuperGeeks has opened its first service center in Orient, Ohio, near the Harrisburg exit off Interstate 71. The 629-square foot store fronts Rt. 62, next to AmeriStop, and will serve the computer repair needs of homes and businesses in the Orient area, according to Rena Kelley, the store’s joint venture partner with SuperGeeks’ chief geek and company president, James Kerr.

Kelley spent her childhood in Columbus and lived in Hawaii for the last 16 years. That’s where she met Kerr, a techie with an entrepreneurial spirit and the desire to give people the type of IT support he says they want:  “friendly, knowledgeable and responsive.”  In 1998, Kerr started the company in his living room. Word of his service spread quickly, and within one year he had a storefront in central Honolulu.  Since then, he has opened service centers in four other locations.

Kelley was the operations manager for the company in Hawaii until last year when she decided to return to Columbus.  She explains her desire to bring SuperGeeks to the area saying, “I believe the Columbus area could benefit from reliable and quality computer repair services. I know how SuperGeeks operates and I know I can run a successful SuperGeeks service center here.”

While SuperGeeks is still a young company, it has a high customer-satisfaction rate. Says Kerr: “We want to be the Starbucks of the computer repair business.  At each location we offer quality, dependable service backed by a brand name,” he says.  “Our sole focus is excellent customer service.  Quality is everything.”

Kelley’s SuperGeeks store in Orient offers drop off repairs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mon. – Sat. as well as onsite service to both residential and business customers. In addition to being a computer repair drop-off location, the store is a service to the community.  It provides free materials on how to protect computers from viruses and other problems as well as tips on protecting children from Internet dangers.

SuperGeeks offers flat fee rates so buyers know what to expect up front.  Prices start at $119 flat for in-store repairs and $149 flat for onsite repair.  Customers can schedule appointments by calling 614-877-1500, on the web at www.SuperGeeks.net or e-mailing rescue@SuperGeeks.net.
